Police have confirmed that remains discovered Sunday morning in Caledon are human, but cannot say if they are those of missing Ontario nurse Sonia Varaschin.
Just before 9 AM — a person out walking their dog made a discovery and contacted Ontario Provincial Police.
Police say the coroner has and confirmed that the remains are human, and a post mortem examination will be conducted in Toronto at a later date.
Police say the identity and gender of the person is not being released at this time.
42 year old Sonia Varaschin was reported missing Monday by her family when she didn’t show up for work.
On Friday, police asked the public for help in finding blood-soaked bedding missing from the woman’s Orangeville home.
Varaschin’s blood-stained white Toyota Corolla was also found in an alley Monday morning in Orangeville.
Meanwhile, 19 hundred people have joined a facebook group to bring Varaschin home.
People are leaving messages of hope and prayers for her safe return.
A public vigil has been cancelled for tonight, but the facebook page invites everyone to light a candle at 7 PM, no matter where they are.
