Testing at two schools in the Bluewater District School Board shows no problem with radio frequency levels created by WI-Fi use in the schools.
Chair of the Board, Jennifer Yenssen, says an outside testing lab, Lex Scientific Incorporated, measured the radio frequency levels at Ripley-Huron Community school and St. Vincent- Euphrasia Elementary.
The tests were ordered, after parents raised the issue with the board, feeling students were getting ill because of Wi Fi use in the schools.
Yenssen says those tests showed that the radio frequency levels in the schools were more than 100 times lower, than the strict Canada Safety code limit of 10 watts per square metre.
Health and safety officer for the board, Ron Motz is meeting with teachers and staff to explain the findings today. (Sept. 2nd)
Chair Jennifer Yenssen says a formal report will likely come to the Bluewater school board meeting at an upcoming meeting.
She says whether the findings will ease the fears of parents about the impact of Wi Fi on the health of students, isn’t clear.
