A three year old lawsuit involving the Kincardine community medical clinic has been settled.
Chief Administrative Officer John DeRosenroll confirms Kincardine has ratified acceptance of a mediators’ report — that results in 515 thousand dollars being paid to the municipality.
Back in 2007, Kincardine filed a lawsuit against three companies involved in phase one of the new medical clinic.
There was mould and drainage problems which DeRosenroll says ended up costing one million dollars to clean-up and repair.
The Town CAO says at a closed session of Kincardine Council, members considered the mediators’ recommendation and in open session voted to accept the 515 thousand dollar settlement from the 3 local firms.
Meanwhile, DeRosenroll says they are ready for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in October to open phase two of the clinic.
He says it will provide the doctors with a lot more space
That deRosenroll says — combined with the announcement that Queens Park is allowing Kincardine to have a Family Health Team — should give Kincardine residents much better access to primary health care.
