There will be a race for Mayor in Owen Sound.
Community advocate Ray Botten has filed his nomination papers to run against incumbent Ruth Lovell Stanners in October’s municipal election.
The 48 year old Botten is well known for fighting for the homeless in the City.
His demonstrations have included spending nights on the front steps of City Hall and also handcuffing himself to a railing at the Grey County administration building.
Bayshore Broadcasting News has also learned a third person is thinking about running for the Mayor’s office.
Six people have also filed nomination papers to run for Council.
They include incumbents Peter Lemon and Bill Twaddle, and newcomers Ian Boddy, Andy McCaffrey, Sharon McKeachnie and Mike Moore.
But current Councillor John Christie says he will not run for re-election in October.
City County Councillor Arlene Wright is also running for re-election.
