Brockton has hired a consultant to study the municipalities recreation needs.
Councillor Tim Mancell says the Recreation Master Plan will help map out the municipality’s current and future recreation needs.
Mancell says it will also identify the recreation department’s strengths and weaknesses.
This will be done with the help of public input through a series of public meetings, work groups and a random phone survey.
This will get underway within the next few weeks.
Mancell calls the 44 thousand dollar study a smart investment for Brockton.
He says the Recreation Master Plan will go a long way in aiding Brockton in future attempts to garner government dollars to build a new municipal building slash recreation facility.
Mancell says the lack of a recreation master plan hurt Brocktons chances the last time it applied for government grant dollars for a municipal office/recreation build project.
London based consultant firm IBI Group has been awarded the job.
They will bring back their findings to the public in the Spring.
