The 23rd annual Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular is now underway.
Anglers are trying to land the heaviest salmon and trout and win their share of 150 thousand dollars in prizes.
The Sydenham Sportsmen’s Association and their volunteers have been busy setting up derby headquarters at the Owen Sound Marina.
Derby co-chair John Ford admits setting up for the Derby is a lot of work.
However, once the tent is up and the derby begins on Friday, Ford states the entire affair becomes very enjoyable.
Ford and the Sydenham Sportsmen’s Association are very proud of the history of this event and how it has evolved through the years.
Ford says they are always looking at expanding the event.
He notes it’s almost a 50-50 split between those who want a bigger tent and longer derby and those who are quite satisfied with the current structure.
