An evacuation order in Walkerton has been lifted, and residents affected have returned to their homes.
A section of the town around Jane and Gibson Streets was evacuated around 11 AM Thursday as residents were taken to the Walkerton Community Centre.
South Bruce OPP Constable Kevin Martin says crews from Aecon working with a directional drill and managed to cut into a Union Gas line underground.
Firefighters from Walkerton, Hanover and Mildmay Carrick as well as Police, Ambulance and Union Gas were all called to the scene and several houses were evacuated.
No one was injured and the line was repaired by 3 PM.
