The call for a judge to investigate a closed meeting of South Bruce Peninsula Council may be shot down today.
Councillor Art King introduced a motion at council recently, calling for the town to get a judge to investigate.
Quoting from a recent Ombudsman’s report, King says he found “a supposed breach of trust” at a September 22nd council meeting.
Andre Marin added in his report that council violated the Municipal Act by voting to remove the mayor from the CAO negotiating team.
The motion by councillor King will be discussed at the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday.
Councillor Dan Kerr says sending the issue to a judge would simply be a waste of money.
He says a similar situation in Mississauga has left that city facing a huge legal bill of more than two million dollars.
Kerr says if Councillor King wants to pursue the matter himself at his own expense, he can do that.
