After four years of hard work and planning — the town of Hanover now has the key to the new P&H Centre.
The town recently took possession of the 10.5 million dollar recreation facility.
Councillor and Project Management Committee Chair Bob White says most of the contractors have left and the finishing touches are now being completed.
Parks Recreation and Culture staff are moving into the new building and their office will be open to the public by Monday August 23rd.
Installation of the ice surface will take place following the September 11th Lions Club Gala event.
White calls it exciting to see the finished product, saying the town can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
He says construction has progressed on schedule and the work of dedicated volunteers who have invested hundreds of hours over the last four years has finally come to fruition.
White reminds residents to keep October 1st and 2nd open on their calendars, this is when the grand opening for the new P&H Centre will take place.
Plans for the event are still be finalized and will include various ice activities, games, tours, public skates and of course a ribbon cutting ceremony.
