Bruce County looking for a new Queen of the Furrow.
Application deadline is today — Monday August 23rd — for the Bruce County Plowing Match Queen of the Furrow competition.
The competition coincides with this years plowing match which runs just outside of Kincardine on September 3rd.
The Queen competition is always a highlight and Organizer Cheryl Leifso (life-so) says there are many reasons why young women should consider entering.
She says it is a great opportunity for networking and perfect for any young women who are considering a future in agriculture.
Leifso says there are a few components of the competition and they include a 2 to 3 minute speech and a chance to get up on a plow and try the skill out.
Applicants must be residents of Bruce County and between the ages of 16 to 25.
Leifso says there are many opportunities for the crowned Queen to attend various events throughout the year – including the International plowing Match where they will compete against upwards of 40 others.
Anyone interested can contact this year’s Queen, Tammy Fischer at 519-827-6367, for more details.
