With Summer Folk all set for this weekend in Owen Sound — another festival with a play on it’s name first taking the stage in the city.
Tonight, music across the city will be heard in part of the “Other Folk” Festival.
The music festival is organized by Josh Richardson — the co-founder of Mudtown Records in the city.
Richardson says there are about a dozen acts that are taking the stage at five different venues across the city.
Richardson says the response was strong to the festival and a few acts did have to be turned away.
He says it has the same feel as Summer Folk – although it shows other medians than just folk – such as rock and electric.
The festival is totally free to attend but donations are accepted – it is through donations the festival will cover their costs and the acts will get paid.
The venues are all in the downtown core of the city and are Jazzmyns, the Bean Cellar, the Chaise Lounge, Rocky Racoon and the River Cafe.
Richardson says all venues were on the same page when it came to being one of the host venue as many of them already have music on Thursday nights.

Looking on to next year, Richardson hopes more bands — especially youth bands — will apply to be part of the event.
