Georgian Bluffs Mayor Alan Barfoot says the province is listening when it comes to a number of issues, and he is pleased with the meetings held at AMO this week.
The Association of Municipalities of Ontario convention in Windsor involved local leaders as well as Premier Dalton McGuinty and his cabinet ministers.
One of the issues addressed in the sessions was waste diversion.
Mayor Barfoot says they met with Ontario Environment Minister John Gerretsen and he knew a lot about the bio-digester that Georgian Bluffs and Chatsworth are building together.
Gerretsen was supportive of the plan which calls for 3.8 million dollars to be spent setting up he waste disposal system.
Mayor Alan Barfoot also met with Ontario Transport Minister Kathleen Wynne during the AMO sessions.
He says Wynne offered her support for the plans Grey County has to set up several bike lanes on area roadways.
Meanwhile, the Georgian Bluffs Mayor was involved in drafting a petition to the province over the Green Energy Act.
He says several communities want to talk with provincial leaders about the Act and how it restricts their involvement in the approval process for wind turbines in their areas.
