Provincial Police want to make sure inline skaters are safe this summer.
The OPP says bladers should remember they are not vehicles and are considered pedestrians on roadways.
Constable Steve Starr admits they have received complaints about bladers not moving over on County roads and in some cases heading down large hills.
Starr says they should be skating to the far side of the road in the opposite direction of traffic.
Starr admits the OPP is concerned a skater is going to get hit on an open roadway.
Starr adds though all inline skaters should look into town rules and regulations as some towns want inline skaters on sidewalks and others on roadways.
Although helmets are not mandatory for inline skaters – Starr highly recommends it.
Starr says inline skaters that fail to abide by the rules of the road could face a 40 dollar fine as well as court costs.
