The Mayor of south Bruce Peninsula is heading to Haiti this week.
Gwen Gilbert is going to the earthquake ravaged country on Friday.
She and her husband will be working with a Canadian company that is bringing drinkable water to the residents.
Clean Water for Haiti (CWH) builds filters for Haitian homes, out of materials that are readily available.
It is a volunteer run, faith based mission and humanitarian aid organization.
Gilbert says they are cement block filters that are filled with sand and screening which work for up to 12 years.
They cost about 100 dollars each, but the company sells them to the Haitians for 5 dollars.
Gilbert says they hope to get some hands-on experience while there, but she is also seeing what the company does and whether there is anything they can do to help out in the future.
The South Bruce Peninsula Mayor and her husband were in Haiti when the earthquake hit early this year.
They were evacuated right after the quake .
Gilbert and her husand will be there for a week.
