Celebrating 60 years is a milestone whether it be a birthday or an anniversary or a conservation authority.
The Saugeen Conservation Authority is inviting you to to help celebrate their 60th anniversary.
Head of Communications Shannon Wood says there are several miles stone as the authority looks back on their 60 years.
Wood says the authority has planted over 6 million trees in the watershed over the years and have been making sure those living next to the watershed are protected from any flooding.
Wood says another thing that the Conservation Authority is very proud of is the fact they were green before going green was en vogue.
As one of the oldest conservation authority’s in the province – they boast a strong history.
Wood says knowing the residents of the area and being able to be a grass roots foundation so people are comfortable asking them questions is their basis.
The conservation authority holding an open house this starting at 11 AM until 2 PM that features live music, displays of history and what has been accomplished in 60 years.
The event being held at their headquarters just south of Hanover, off of Grey Road 10.
Wood says as she looks into the future of the authority she sees more work at the local level.
She hopes residents will continue to come to the authority with any environmental questions and concerns.
