More opportunities for Bruce County residents to get rid of some hazardous waste.
The free Bruce County Household Hazardous and Special Waste collection program continues today between 8 AM and 12:30 PM.
A collection centre will be set up at the Southampton Works Shop on Peel Street.
Anything that can catch fire, react, or explode when mixed with other substances can be disposed of at the site.
Other hazardous waste materials include anything corrosive or toxic.
Batteries, flourescent light bulbs, paint and prescription medicines are just some examples of items that can be thrown out safely.
Commericial, agricultural and industrial wastes will not be accepted.
The county offers this free service because improper disposal can be very dangerous.
If these materials find their way into drains, sewers, backyards or landfills, and can contaminate our water supplies and other natural resources.
