Searching ones ancestry is becoming a popular past time with on line chronological searches.
But one family has taken the past time to a whole new level.
Dating back to the 1800’s the O’Hagan family based from Ireland and settled in Elderslie Township in Bruce County are celebrating their ancestry this weekend with a reunion.
What is interesting though of this reunion is they will be marking a deceased member of the family tree that has more than a stellar educational resume.
They will be dedicating a tombstone to Doctor Thomas O’Hagan — who died in 1939 — but not before obtaining six university degrees and post graduate studies at seven universities in Europe and North America.
Dr O’Hagan published 17 books – some of his own verse.
The tombstone will be placed in Mary Immaculate Church in Chepstow – where a dedication family mass will take place prior on Saturday July 24th.
A family reunion dinner will follow at Cargill Community Centre.
