By September — every Catholic classroom in Bruce Grey will have a smart board.
The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board is spending 401 thousand dollars on the interactive technology.
Superintendent of Education Jerry Casey says smart boards serve as a powerful educational tool for students.
He says the electronic white board enhances instruction and learning for a generation of students that are already immersed in technology.
Casey adds the smart board notebook technology also provides teachers with a lot of flexibility with their lessons.
The Catholic Board will be purchasing 75 smart boards in total.
The School Board decided to make all of the purchases before the HST came into effect this month.
Casey adds by equipping every classroom with the technology — it will create a level playing field for all students.
The smart board includes a white screen and notebook software.
Casey adds the technology really engages students — allowing them to even touch the screen rather than the keyboard to interact.
