A study will examine whether Saugeen Shores should consolidate its public works and community services facilities.
Director of Public Works Bill Jones says the current three buildings are spread throughout the municipality.
There’s one on Peel Street in Southampton, one at Market and Arlington in Port Elgin, and another on the 6th Concession at Guyers Drive.
Jones says the study will look at the merits of both maintaining the current system or moving everything to one centralized facility.
Jones says they need to start planning for the future.
He says they need to have money put away to either construct a new facility or maintain the existing buildings.
Jones says centralization would result in operation efficiencies such as having just one heating system.
He adds there could also be efficiencies from a service perspective if they can still get to all areas of the municipality within the same amount of time.
The consolidation review will be conducted by McCormick Rankin Corporation at a cost of 47 thousand dollars.
