Something bad is going to happen in Walkerton.
It will happen today around 12:30 PM at the Walkerton Fire Hall and the adjacent Sacred Heart High School parking lot.
It’s all part of the 5th annual Bruce Grey MedQUEST Health Careers Exploration Program which began on Monday.
MedQUEST chair Myrna Inglis says a half-day mock disaster is about to unfold in Walkerton but fire, police and ambulance personnel won’t know what kind of disaster it is until called to the scene.
The 30 MedQUEST students will also be taking part, either as participants or job shadowing emergency personnel.
Inglis says although she can’t divulge details of the mock disaster but she does say there is much less simulated blood and injuries than they’ve had in recent years.
MedQUEST is a week-long, medical-based summer program for high school students interested in pursuing a career in health care.
The program runs until this Friday, with most sessions taking place at Walkerton District Secondary School.
