Who says you can’t park on a parkway?
Patrons of Summerfolk at Kelso Beach Park in Owen Sound will be able to leave their vehicles in the outside lanes of the Eddie Sargent Parkway, as they traditionally have done.
There was some concern it would not be allowed after parking along the parkway during Big Music Fest was banned.
The parkway is also part of Grey Road 1, and a bylaw exists that prohibits vehicles from parking on the roadway.
But Grey County Council has approved a bylaw exemption that makes it okay to park in the outside lanes during Summerfolk.
The exemption will be in place from Friday, August 20th at 10 AM until Monday, August 23rd at 10 AM.
Such an exemption was also granted for Canada Day celebrations at the park.
Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners is a member of the county’s transportation and public safety committee.
She says organizers of the Big Music Fest did not ask for an exemption — that’s why the no-parking bylaw was enforced that day
