The 5th annual MedQUEST Health Careers Exploration Program is getting ready to welcome new students to the week-long event.
MedQUEST chair Myrna Inglis says 30 students have been chosen from the 57 applications they received from the 12 high schools in Bruce and Grey.
The medical based summer program introduces students in Grades 10 and 11 to various health care professions and is held from July 12th to 16th at Walkerton District Secondary School.
Inglis says the busy week starts tomorrow with a suturing clinic and how to conduct a physical exam.
Tuesday and part of Thursday, the students will be job-shadowing professional health care workers.
Wednesday is a highlight day with a mock disaster involving the emergency medical services, along with police and fire department personnel.
Friday the students learn about long term health care before the “graduation” ceremonies Friday evening at Jubilee Hall in Walkerton.
