It was another successful Relay for Life in our region.
The 2nd annual Saugeen Shores Relay For Life, cancer fundraiser was held Friday night at the track behind Saugeen District Secondary School.
Event Co-Chair Nancy McLeod says they have raised about 130 thousand dollars so far, but that is just online fundraising and pledges, not counting luminary sales.
McLeod also notes that people can still give online pledges for another two weeks.
The Saugeen Shores event had 49 teams participate this year — that is down a bit from 56 teams last year.
But McLeod says even though the number of teams are down, she still thinks they will raise as much, or more money than last year.
Last year’s total was 176 thousand.
McLeod says they couldn’t have asked for better weather for the 12 hour event.
She says the entire event was amazing.
There was live music being played all night, along with a live auction, a silent auction and other activities.
McLeod says the event wouldn’t take place without all the help of the sponsors and is looking forward to seeing everyone again next year.
