It’s time for another Relay for Life to help fight cancer.
This time it’s the 2nd annual Saugeen Shores event held at the track, behind Saugeen District Secondary School.
Co-chair Trish Bernard says they’re down a couple of teams from last year, but the money being raised is on track with their goal.
Bernard says they’re going to have a good survivor’s lap to kick things off tonight and luminary sales have been steady.
She says although the 12-hour walk begins at 7 PM, actual activities at the site start up at 5 PM with a BBQ by donation.
Bernard says they have a host of bands for entertainment throughout the night and the first band begins at 5:30 PM.
There will also be a live and silent auction to help raise additional funds.
Bernard invites the entire community to come out and just enjoy the atmosphere.
She says bring a lawn chair and stay awhile, enjoying the music and the activities.
Organizers of the Saugeen Shores event hope to raise 200 thousand dollars when it is all said and done.
Last year — 176 thousand dollars was raised, easily the biggest fundraiser for the cause in the region.
