With another day of scorching temperatures and high humidity, officials at the Grey Bruce Health Unit are advising people to take it easy if they are out of doors or don’t have air conditioning.
Angela Newman is a Program Manager at the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
Newman says if people are feeling the heat, they can should head off to a local air conditioned shopping mall to try and get a break.
She also says people should check to see if their municipality has any cooling centres operating.
Newman says parents should keep a close eye on their kids and make sure they are not too active outside during the heat wave and should avoid being outside during mid day when its the hottest.
She says if you have to be outside, make sure you drink lots of water ,about every 15 minutes, to keep from becoming dehydrated.
Newman says once you feel you thirsty, you already are dehydrated.
She says water is the best thing to drink, not coffee, tea, pop or any other drink containing caffeine.
