The sunny and hot weather brought out nearly 10 thousand people for this years’ Big Music Fest at Kelso Beach Park in Owen Sound.
Owen Sound Police say most were well behaved, but 17 people were arrested at the park.
Inspector Stephen MacKinnon says City Police and the OPP also gave out fines to several people who wouldn’t leave Kelso Beach when ordered to — and they were escorted out.
15 of the people arrested were charged with being intoxicated in a public place.
Of those, one person was in such a state that he had to be taken by ambulance from the police station to the hospital.
MacKinnon says a 22-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested for being drunk in a public place as well as one count of Assaulting a Police Officer while resisting arrest.
Another 23-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested by plain clothes officers from the Owen Sound Police Drug Unit for selling marihuana.
He was charged with one count each of Trafficking Marihuana; Possession of Ecstasy for the Purpose of Trafficking; and Possession of Proceeds of Crime.
Both males were later released from custody with a court date in August.
Officers from Owen Sound Police, Saugeen Shores Police, West Grey Police, Hanover Police, and OPP from Grey County and South Bruce stopped about two thousand vehicles in different areas of Owen Sound looking for impaired drivers.
Three drivers were given roadside tests and although none blew over the legal limit one driver had his licence suspended because he had a G2 licence but had consumed alcohol.
