After 98 years of service the Cargill Royal Bank is slated for closure this Fall .
This has caused an outcry in the community and surrounding area resulting in the creation of the Cargill Save the Bank Committee.
Spokesperson Gary Napper says this isn’t the first time that corporate in Toronto has tried to shut this bank down.
In 1983 the bank was also slated for closure but was saved after a large public outcry.
Napper hopes history will repeat itself and the public outcry will be enough to save the bank again.
As added insurance, the Save the Bank Committee has enlisted the help of Brockton Council.
Councillors were quick to jump on board and passed a resolution last night (MON) in full support of the bank remaining open.
Currently the Cargill Royal Bank is open two days a week.
The Save the Bank Committee will be meeting with the a Royal Bank Regional representative next week to discuss the fate of the Cargill bank.
Napper is also going to request a bank machine be brought into the community.
