A reminder for Hanover residents — it’s time to get different garbage bags if you haven’t done so already.
Hanover residents are being reminded to purchase their clear garbage bags.
As of July 1st — the clear garbage bags will become mandatory and dark bags will no longer be collected.
Councillor Sue Patterson was originally skeptical about the idea — but now fully supports it and made the switch to clear bags months ago.
Patterson says it’s easy providing you recycle — and she notes the goal of the switch is to get residents to recycling more.
Any garbage bags found with recyclables in it will not be collected.
Patterson says the move should also extend the life of the shared Hanover Walkerton landfill site.
