The Georgian Bay Garden Club is celebrating the first weekend of summer.
Their 18th annual Tour of Gardens is on today – rain or shine – from Noon to 6 PM.
Spokesperson Betty Adair says the Club is marking their 20th anniversary this year and the tour is always their biggest fundraiser.
Adair says there are eight gardens featured on the tour this year — two in Owen Sound and the other six off Grey Road 1 as you head toward Cobble Beach.
The Cobble Beach Resort and Country Club is also serving as the refreshment stop and the tea room will run from 2 to 5 PM.
Adair says they’ve picked a variety of gardens to showcase different features and settings.
She says it’s a great opportunity for you to get ideas for your own garden.
The property owners and Garden Club members will be at each location to answer questions.
Adair says they’re hoping for between 500 and 600 people.
The proceeds support the Georgian Bay Garden Club’s many community projects.
Members maintain the Garden On The Bay, the Inglis Falls gardens, the butterfly garden at Grey Sauble Conservation, and the gardens at the Owen Sound Library.
The Club also contributes to the DIA for floral displays and provides bursaries to students pursuing degrees in horticultural studies.
Tickets for the tour are 17 dollars and are still available from any Club member or at Cobble Beach.
