The South Bruce Grey Health Centre has elected new chair for board of directors.
John Haggarty was elected at the SBGHC Annual General Meeting in Durham on Wednesday night.
Becky Fair was elected to Vice Chair and Jeff Vandervoort was elected as treasurer at the same meeting.
Changes to the SBGHC’s by-laws were also approved, as recommended by the Ontario Hospital Association.
A number of changes were made to the board as well, including a reduction in size from 21 directors to 11.
The selection process has also been changed.
Selection will now be based on skill with special consideration given to ensure directors are representative of the SBGHC’s catchment area.
The changes also mean the CEO, Chief of Staff and President and Vice President of the Medical Staff no longer have voting rights.
President and CEO Paul Davies says they are confident in the make-up of their board for the coming year.
Davies says the board is a very skilled and dedicated group.
He says the board will be focusing on quality improvement, patient and staff safety and satisfaction, and community engagement.
