An Owen Sound nurse is getting an award for excellence in her job.
Nora Wade is one of eight winners of the RBC Royal Bank Nursing Excellence Award.
It recognizes commitment to education, compassion towards others and willingness to go beyond the call of duty.
Another nurse — Susan Wentworth — nominated Wade of the award, and local residents voted for her to win the national honour.
Wade says she feels humbled and honoured that her peers and patients felt she was deserving of the nomination.
Wade has been a nurse for over 34 years and currently works in the rehab unit of the Owen Sound Hospital.
Wentworth says Wade brings a sense of humour and passion to work with her everyday.
Wade says she finds nursing very rewarding, and it makes her feel good to see patients get better.
As part of the award, Wade will receive a 500 dollar bursary.
It’s part of RBC’s 60 thousand dollar commitment to the professional development of nurses in Grey, Bruce, Wellington and Dufferin Counties.
