Members of Parliament have stepped away from Ottawa for the 12 week summer break.
While some call it the most unproductive legislative sitting in recent memory Conservative MP for Huron-Bruce, Ben Lobb says plenty of bills were passed as Parliament heads into the summer break.
The final hours were surprisingly marked by co-operation on a couple of fronts; consent on a bill that would ensure the likes of notorious sex killer Karla Homolka won’t be pardoned and the passage of another bill to create a national seniors’ day.
Amongst the other bills passed were the budget, and a trade agreement between Canada and Columbia.
Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb says a number of law and order bills did not make it through, like changes the PC’s want to see made on existing long gun registry laws.
Lobb says they now head into summer set to hear from their constituents.
Lobb says they have a busy summer of events and meetings within Huron-Bruce where he will be speaking with constituents to hear what they want brought back to Parliament come fall.
