Add another incumbent to run again in this year’s municipal election in Kincardine.
Marsha Leggett of Route 1, Tiverton, has filed her papers, running again for Councillor-at-Large.
She joins fellow incumbent Ken Craig who made his intentions known some time ago.
Leggett has been involved in municipal politics since the 70’s, having worked as town clerk and she also served as reeve.
Leggett says with the state Kincardine’s finances are in, she doesn’t want new people to come in and say the current council left a mess.
She says she wants to see it through.
Leggett says she loves serving on council, and even feels “pumped up” some nights after coming home from a meeting.
Kincardine voters elect four at-large councillors along with one in their specific ward.
Also, Bluewater District School Board trustee, Jan Johnstone, representing Kincardine and Huron Kinloss, has made her intentions known that she will run again this fall.
Johnstone has served as Vice-Chair of the board but has been a trustee since 2001 when she was appointed to the position after a trustee stepped down.
Subsequently she was elected the next time and in 2006 she was acclaimed.
She says education should be about the kids and their learning needs.
Johnstone says as a child she had good and bad experiences in school but she still supports the public system.
The municipal election goes October 25th.
