The Chair of the Federal Finance Committee is in town this weekend.
On Friday, James Rajotte — a Conservative MP for the riding of Edmonton-Leduc — was a guest speaker at a luncheon hosted by the Owen Sound Chamber of Commerce at the Days Inn.
Rajotte spoke about the concerns of small and medium size business owners.
He discussed the 2010 Federal budget, and how some changes in it… might affect some small business owners.
Among the key concerns he touched on, the new HST.
While many business owners have concerns about the new system, Rajotte says it will be beneficial in the long run.
He also discussed the creation of a Red Tape Reduction Committee to aid business owners.
Its aim is to get input on ways to eliminate red tape affecting small business.
He also discussed the government’s commitment to raising the tax bracket for small businesses from three hundred to five hundred thousand.
Rajotte says that will help business owners maximize profits while still falling under the small business tax bracket.
Rajotte will be in Owen Sound until Monday, exploring the region along with Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller.
