The Mayor of West Grey has more to offer.
Kevin Eccles has officially filed his papers to seek re-election for a second term.
Eccles says while it has been an excellent four years in office and he has seen much come to pass – he feels his call to service is not yet over.
Eccles says the strongest political accomplishment in his past term has been getting the government to come to the table with another half a million dollars in funding to put towards the Saugeen River Erosion.
But the largest accomplishment he quickly adds – for the community – is overcoming the strife of last summer’s tornado that tore through the municipality – claiming the life of one young boy.
It was at that time that Eccles came to the spotlight provincially – helping the municipality obtain provincial funding to re-build after the disaster.
Eccles says he is seeking re-election so he can follow through with moving forward in the strong working partnerships with their neighbouring towns of Mount Forest and Hanover.
Eccles is in hope the province will see that there is more to the province than industrial sectors and Toronto – and large employment – and high end employment can be obtained in West Grey.
He says the decision to run again for the office was made the night he was elected four years ago as he feels he has much to add to the municipality in the position of Mayor.
The next municipal election is in four months.
