Dancing has never looked better for so many great causes as this weekend in Owen Sound.
After months of practice — local celebrities are finally ready to put their best foot forward and take to the dance floor for the second annual Dancing for Life.
Anne Milne — from the Anne Milne Dance Studio — is leading the as well as instructing the celebrities.
This year the bar has been set high from last year’s sold out performances and staggering 32-thousand dollars raised for charity.
Milne says this year’s proceeds will be divided up between The Children’s Aid Society of Owen Sound and The County of Grey, the Alzheimer Society Grey/Bruce, Community Living Owen Sound and District and the Canadian Cancer Society Bluewater Unit.
Milne feels all charities are very deserving and will use the money wisely.
As for the show itself — Milne says it is a bigger production than last year with eight celebrities participating.
They are Constable Chris Hartley, Verona Jackson with her husband Ovid, Heather Middlerow, Donna Lynn Ringer, Lois Taylor, Andy VanDolder, Glenn Wilson and Doctor Moona.
Milne says the celebrities have been practising for months and will be each performing one professional dance everything from the Cha Cha to the Quick Step.
There will also be other performances involving dancers from community living as well as all the students from the Anne Milne School of Dance.
One special performance will be an original song performed by Geoff Stevens who will be singing about his battle with cancer.
There will be other performers as well including the Youth Theatre Coalition.
Milne can not believe the amount of volunteers that are involved in the production from the sets to lighting – costume donations to ushers at the event.
Tickets are 35 dollars each and can be bought at the Attack Box Office in person, on the phone or on line.
The productions run Friday at 7 PM, Saturday at 1 PM and 7 PM at the OSCVI auditorium.
