While students wait for their report cards, the report cards on the Bluewater District Secondary Schools is in.
The Fraser Institute report card, looked at the accomplishments of 722 schools in Ontario.
Chesley District was the only school in the Bluewater system to crack the top 40, coming in 39th place with an 8.3 rating.
School principal Margaret Peckham says it means the Grade 9’s who wrote the math test and the Grade 10’s who wrote the literacy test, did very well when the EQAO results came out.
Peckham believes part of the school’s success is due to its size which is small at a 300 student population.
She says it allows teachers and staff to focus more on the needs of the students.
However Peckham says any of the schools in the Bluewater system provide similar positive results but she’s still proud of the students at Chesley who did so well in the testing process.
The Bluewater ratings show Chesley in top spot, followed by Peninsula Shores in Wiarton (7.4); KDSS in Kincardine (7.3); SDSS in Port Elgin (6.8); West Hill in Owen Sound (5.9); Georgian Bay in Meaford (5.8); OSCVI in Owen Sound (5.8); John Diefenbaker in Hanover (5.4); WDSS in Walkerton (5.4); Grey Highlands in Flesherton (4.3)
