Owen Sound is hoping to send local participants to London, Ontario for the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games this year.
It will be held from July 13th to the 17th.
And to help — organizers are hoping to raise at least a thousand dollars from Thursday’s Law Enforcement Torch Run along 10th Street West.
Sergeant Ted Kitto says they’ve got representatives from Owen Sound Police Service, the OPP, Corrections Officers, Special Olympic athletes and students from West Hill and Hillcrest schools taking part.
The run starts at the city limits on 10th Street West at around 9:30 AM and heads east towards West Hill Secondary.
Kitto says they’ll have a police escort along the way but traffic disruption will be minimal — about 10 to 15 minutes.
