The Grey County Children’s Aid Society needs your help sending kids to summer camp.
Fund Development Coordinator Cindy Wheeler says they’re hoping to send about 218 children to camps across the county this summer – but their fundraising campaign is struggling.
Wheeler says about 7 thousand dollars has come in so far — but their goal is 25 thousand.
It costs about 100 dollars a week to send a child to day camp, while an overnight week long camp can run over 400 dollars.
Wheeler says the children benefit a great deal from going to camp, experiencing new things, making new friends, and having fun in a stress free environment.
Wheeler knows there a lot of great fundraisers going on across the region and people are feeling stretched when it comes to making decisions about their donation dollars.
But she hopes people recognize the importance of this campaign and donate any amount they can.
Spots are also still available in their golf tournament fundraiser on June 18th, while some proceeds from the Dancing For Life event that same weekend will also go towards their campaign.
Wheeler says to make a donation, sign up for the golf tournament, or get more info on Dancing For Life – you can call her at the CAS office at 519-376-7829 ext 288.
