The “Lock It or Lose It” campaign is not just for the Christmas season.
Police responded to no less than 9 separate incidents of vehicles being entered or taken because the vehicles were not locked and in some cases, keys were in the car.
The occurrences happened over a 3-day span, ending on Monday.
Everything from cash to gift certificates were stolen.
In two cases, vehicles were stolen but entry was gained because the vehicle was unlocked and the owner left the keys in the vehicle.
Early Saturday morning, a youth got into a vehicle on Shipley Avenue in Gobles Grove and rammed the vehicle in reverse, into another which careened into a third.
A 13 year old Saugeen First Nation youth is facing charges of theft and dangerous driving.
Also on Saturday morning a vehicle was stolen from an Eastwood Drive residence and was found abandoned later at Saugeen First Nation.
Police remind people of the Lock it or Lose it campaign.
If your vehicle is locked someone who is running through the neighbourhood looking for loose change will move to another vehicle looking for the one that is unlocked.
Anymore we all have $2, $4, $6 in change in our vehicles and it is an easy target.
