Twenty-seven years is enough.
So says Kincardine Councillor Ron Hewitt who has announced he will not seek re-election in October.
He says he has run in 10-elections and been elected nine times.
Hewitt says it’s time to give back to his family, especially his grandchildren.
Hewitt says there are always a couple of projects that he would have liked to have seen completed but you never come to the end of the list.
He says otherwise you would be on council forever.
Hewitt says he has confidence in the councils ahead of him to do the right thing for the municipality.
He does have one message for any new councillors coming on board this year.
He hopes they would continue on with the committee structure where the public can help serve and provide input to assist council in making decisions.
Hewitt says it’s something he’s been passionate about and he hopes the practice will continue.
This year’s municipal election takes place on October 25th.
At last check, so far only one candidate has filed nomination papers.
