The Victoria Day Long weekend is not only the unofficial begining of the summer season — it’s also the begining of the Seasonal Farmers Market season as well.
This is the weekend that most of the summer markets open in various communities in Grey Bruce and Simcoe Counties.
This summer there will be 14 farmers markets of varying size operating in the three counties, 12 which will be open this weekend.
On Friday afternoon and evenings, markets will be open in Markdale at
The Olde Fire Hall between 1 PM and 8 PM, in Williamsford from 3 PM until 8 PM and Durham from 3 PM until 7 PM.
Two other Friday markets open this weekend are in Downtown Walkerton from 8 AM until 2 PM and another in Wiarton, at Bluewater park from 1 PM until 6 PM.
The other markets are all open on Sautrday morning.
They are located in Collingwood the corner of Second and Pine Streets , Flesherton & District Farmers Market, Holstein Farmers Market, Paisley Farmers Market, Kincardine Farmers Market and the Lions Head Farmers Market at the Beach Pavilion.
All of the Markets feature a wide variety of locally produced products and is a good way to know where your food comes from and how it was produced.
Farmers Markets offer the opportunity to speak to the people who can give you the whole story about the food they sell.
