Georgian Bluffs has joined a local marketing alliance.
Council has accepted an invitiation to join the Around the Sound Marketing Alliance, formerly known as the Owen Sound Marketing Alliance.
The township will invest 2 thousand dollars in the partnership, which promises to make advertising worth 13 times that amount available to the municipality this summer.
The alliance began last year between the Heritage Place Shopping Centre, the Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area, Bayshore Broadcasting, Wal-Mart and Owen Sound’s economic development department.
Its goal was to market the Owen Sound area to local residents as well as to tourists.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says members of council liked the ads that were done as part of last year’s campaign and felt it was worthwhile to get involved this year in the hope of spurring more economic development in Georgian Bluffs.
