As weekend traffic starts to increase with nicer weather, and summer months loom, we have a warning from police in Saugeen Shores – buckle up!
That message was also recently sent through the spring seatbelt campaign.
Police conducted nine stationary seat belt checks at intersections throughout the ten day campaign.
Nineteen charges were laid to a combination of drivers and passengers – along with a 240 dollar fine; 21 other motorists were given verbal warnings.
In Ontario – OPP laid more than 72 hundred charges – most to drivers – some to passengers – others for having improperly installed child seats.
During the course of the annual crackdown, one person died and 41 people who were not buckled in were injured in collisions.
