A former broadcaster and now Senator is taking a few shots at the National Media for it’s coverage of the Helena Guergis affair.
Mike Duffy says to him is appears this whole thing could be a mistake, especially now its come out the person who tipped the Conservatives with the information is a bit of a shady character himself.
Duffy says it smells to him.
He is critical of the so called feeding frenzy that is taking place as each different media source tries to top the other with unsubstantiated reports dealing with Guergis and her Husband, Rahim Jaffer.
What really bothers Duffy is the fact the media seems to not even bother to check two sources to ensure their stories are accurate.
Duffy says at the end of the day if it turns out this is all made up or mostly made up stuff, then the National media will have an awful lot to account for.
He says even the Opposition MP are getting caught up in what he calls the sleaze surrounding the reporting of this event.
Duffy also says now he is on the other side of the fence he has noticed the demeanour of the media has changed as well, from being fairly polite making it their mission to try and get politicians to misspeak so they can spin it as a gaff.
Senator Duffy comments come before he makes an appearance in Owen Sound at the annual fund raising dinner for Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller.
