More is being built this year than at the same time last year in Saugeen Shores.
Chief Building Official Jim Bell says this year — ending February — 3 million dollars worth of building permits were issued.
Bell says that’s twice as much as last year at the same time last year when 1.5 million was realized.
Bell says of the 3 million this year, about 2.7 is in new single family dwellings.
Bell says though – most activity began in January – as both months of February saw the same amount of activity; 1.5 million in 2009 and 2010.
He says however, last year at this time only one new home was being built – while ten are underway right now.
He also says contractors seem to be booking into the year as well.
