The big rumbles you hear this weekend are not approaching thunderstorms.
It’s hundreds of people taking part in bowling fundraisers for Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Kincardine, Owen Sound, Hanover, and Meaford.
The President of the Kincardine group, Ryan Enright says their Bowl for Kids Sake goes Saturday, March 6th from 3 PM to 9 PM and Sunday March 7th from 10 AM to 5 PM at Bruce Bowling Lanes in Kincardine.
Enright says they hope to raise 30 thousand dollars through pledges collected by participating bowlers.
Kincardine caseworker Cynthia Finlay says the money is used to maintain the programs provided by the group and to help find matches for the six boys and 5 girls who continue to wait.
The Kincardine bowl is the 25th such event.
In Owen Sound — the Bowl for Big Brothers is taking place at Noon on Saturday at West Side Bowl and officials hope to top last year’s fundraising total of 12 thousand dollars.
Both Big Brothers and Little Brothers will be participating as well as local MPP Bill Murdoch who has issued a challenge to beat his scores.
Meanwhile, in Hanover, it’s the 22nd annual event for Big Brothers.
Hanover caseworkers Sally Korman says they’re expecting 50-teams to raise around 37 thousand dollars.
In Hanover there are three bowls at the Lightning Lanes, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 7th, 9th and 10th respectively.
On Sunday at 11 AM — it will be the showdown of mayors from Brockton, Charlie Bagnato and West Grey, Kevin Eccles.
Bagnato says no matter who wins, it’s about supporting a worthy cause.
In both Kincardine and Hanover, organizers are still looking for more people to take part in the major fundraiser.
The Meaford event goes March 6th at Meaford Bowl in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Georgian Triangle.
