Instructors at Georgian College and other Ontario community colleges vote today on a contract offer — with the threat of a strike looming over the province if they reject it.
Ontario’s colleges are taking a tough stand, telling faculty it’s their final offer and vowing not to return to the bargaining table if the contract is rejected.
The instructors have set a February 17th strike date.
If there is a strike — it would end classes for 200 thousand full time students.
OPSEU is recommending the nine college teachers vote against the offer.
The union wants to go back to the bargaining table and bring in an arbitrator to settle the dispute if the vote is rejected.
