It was a special treat for Hanover Councillors as they toured the construction site of the town’s new Regional Recreational Centre on Monday.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says she was overwhelmed by the experience.
She says architecturally it’s a beautiful building.
Maskell says the sheer size of the facility as well as the seating and added features are all very pleasing to the eye.
She is confident the entire community will be very proud of the facility once its complete in late summer.
Councillor Peter Hambly agrees, saying the building is well designed, boasting amazing sight lines and lots of room for traffic flow.
Building Chair and Councillor Bob White says the 8.8 million dollar project is slightly ahead of schedule.
With the exception of some brick work which will get underway this Spring, most of the exterior work on the Complex is complete.
If all goes as planned the ice surface will be put in within the next few weeks.
The new Regional Recreation Complex will feature an NHL sized ice rink, a walking track and an auditorium.
The project is slated to wrap up in August.
