Hanover’s Biggest Block Party didn’t turn a profit in 2009. But despite landing in the red the Sights and Sounds Festival will continue.
Despite running a deficit this past year — there are no plans to cancel or scale back Hanover’s Sights and Sounds Festival.
In fact organizers are already planning to make this year’s festival bigger and better with a band tour pub crawl, a street dance and another stage downtown.
Festival Coordinator Stephanie Crilly blames the 27 hundred dollar short fall on poor weather since it rained all weekend.
She says the deficit was only for this past budget year and notes he festival is quite strong and healthy.
Crilly adds the festival can’t be measured just by profit because it brings thousands of people to the town and creates numerous economic spinoffs.
Local not for profit groups also raised 12 thousand dollars during the event.
In 2009 the Sights and Sounds Festival won two provincial awards including a spot on Ontario’s top 100 festivals.
